UV Protection Window Film for Homes & Art

Window Tint

UV protection film.

Help protect floors, art and furnishings from fading, without closing the shades on the view.

The fading problem

Ultraviolet light is a major contributor to fading of floors, upholstery, rugs, cabinetry and artwork, alongside visible light and heat. In Southwest Florida, where sun is strong for much of the year and homes are designed around glass, fading can happen faster than owners expect.

How UV film helps

Most quality 3M window films block the vast majority of UV radiation, including many films that are nearly clear. That means you can significantly reduce UV entering a room while keeping natural light and views. Film slows fading; it does not stop it entirely, because visible light and heat also contribute.

What to protect

Art and collections

Collectors with valuable works should follow the guidance of a conservator regarding light levels and placement. Window film is a helpful layer of protection, especially in rooms where works are displayed near windows, but it is not a substitute for professional conservation advice.

Seasonal homes

Homes closed for the summer are often left with shades drawn. Film provides continuous UV reduction regardless of shades. Read more in waterfront homes: salt air and sun.
